Q: Will the new construction be completed in an environmentally sensitive manner?

A: Focus on sustainability is at the core of the project’s design, which targets LEED NC Silver Certification, and provides green roofs, drought-tolerant landscaping, and upgrading the storm water system to protect the adjacent San Diego River. The existing office building has already applied for LEED Gold Certification for Existing Buildings.

Q: How will living at Hazard Center be helpful to the environment?

A: With its proximity to public transportation, energy-responsible construction and added parks, plazas and open spaces, residents of the revitalized Hazard Center will be encouraged to use their vehicles less and to live an energy-sensitive and more active lifestyle. The area will become an increasingly vital link in the environmental cycle.
